$1.5 Million Donated by Poker Players toward Haiti Relief Efforts

Earlier this month a 7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti and thousands of people were killed and hundreds of thousands are displaced, hurt and in need of the bare necessities. Poker players have heard the call for help and have come together to donate funds to the relief efforts.

PokerStars, Full Tilt, Cake Poker, Absolute Poker, UB, DoylesRoom and Bodog are some of the poker rooms that have helped raise funds. PokerStars, Cake Poker and Full Tilt announced they will be matching the donations made by their players at their poker rooms.

The Poker Players Alliance announced that over 50,000 players donated to help Haiti and with other money raised from other sites poker players have raised over $1.5 million to help the relief efforts. This is a large amount and can only get larger if people continue to donate.

“Like the rest of the world, the poker community is eager to do anything it can to aid Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake,” said former U.S. senator and the current chairman of the PPA, Alfonse D’Amato. “I applaud PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Cake Poker for providing poker players across the globe an easy way to make a contribution.”
