Despite all the bad press regarding Absolute Poker during the latter part of 2007, it was still a profitable year for their poker players. The online poker site released their Bad Beat Jackpot figures for 2007 today.

June 22nd, 2007 brought the addition of the Bad Beat Jackpot to Absolute Poker's selection of poker games; they are paying their players for their losing Texas Hold’em hands. This addition launched Absolute Poker into one of the premier online poker rooms for players everywhere wanting a chance at winning a bad beat jackpot. Thirty-nine successful players have hit Absolute’s Bad Beat Jackpot.

According to Senior Vice President David Clainer, “2007 was an extremely profitable year for our Bad Beat Jackpot players. In just six months, we introduced the Bad Beat Jackpot game US players, handed out over $6.5 Million in Bad Beat Jackpot winnings, and broke an industry record.”

The published numbers are as follows:

1. Number of Bad Beat Jackpots Hit since June 22, 2007 is 39.
2. The total value of Bad Beat Jackpots is $8,555,664.
3. The total value of jackpot money that players won is $6,581,280.
4. The highest single Bad Beat Jackpot hit was on August 29th, 2007 and was a record $821,670. (Previously that record was held by Party Poker at $739,621)

Bad Beat Jackpot amounts at Absolute are generated from fifty cents that is collected from qualifying hands. The amount continues to accumulate until a player hits a qualifying bad beat. A qualifying bad beat is a losing hand of four 8’s or better. It is a win-win situation for all players in the bad beat hand as they will also receive a part of the jackpot.
