Home Poker Game Robbery
Police say nearly a dozen people, men and women, were playing poker inside a home on Lindley Drive when at 2:30 two armed men break into the home and demand the poker players' money.
"At some point the victim became agitated with the notion that he was being robbed and that's when some sort of scuffle ensued where eventually he was shot," said Lt. Bruce Barnes of the Noblesville Police Department. He went on to assure the neighbors, and community, that the effort to find the suspects would continue.
David Nicoson of Indianapolis, 35, was treated and released from Methodist Hospital for the single gunshot wound. Detectives asked those who attended the game, including Nicoson, to write down witness accounts as to what occurred at the get-together and during the robbery. At the same time, police used dogs to seek out both suspects.
Police are not publicly saying that the suspects targeted the home however residents are reaching their own conclusions. They say the fact this was anticipated not to be an accidental and random act gives them some sense of relief. This was a common enough poker game that the neighbors are finding solstice in the idea it was targeted as a result.
