Isaac westmenloAA Baron Is Online Player of the Year
In a race that was a literal thriller heading into the final week, Baron saw his lead shrink to just 26 points over his rival Kay. Knowing he needed a big win to take down the coveted title, ‘westmenloAA' won a crucial $200 rebuy tournament on PokerStars during the last few days to solidify his place atop the standings. Matt Kay unfortunately didn't make any last-second pushes, and by the end of the year it was Isaac Baron who would be victorious.
Finishing in a distant 3rd was embattled online star Sorel ‘Imper1um' Mizzi, who caught a lot of heat for his role in a multi-accounting scandal during Full Tilt $1,000 buy-in MTT a few weeks ago. Mizzi was behind the top 2 for the remainder of the year, and would've needed a miraculous Sunday Million win and some other big tourney scores to even get remotely close to surpassing Baron or Kay.
The whole Online Player of the Year award was the capper on what has been a spectacular year for young Isaac. He took down the year's first $500 buy-in Sunday Million for $255,000 and had a sick amount of scores during the remainder of 2007. He ended the year the same way he entered it - on a complete rush and never looking back at his competition...
