Malaysian Poker Player, drowned to avoid raid
It appears that due to being afraid of apprehension by police, Chin fled the hut and jumped into the sea. Although the other poker player's served as friends and tried to persuade him to swim back to shoreline, Chin only swam further out. While every one watched, and concern grew as the sea was not calm or inviting. The other players were taken into custody.
After just about ten minutes, Chin vanished beneath the water. A marine police patrol boat found his body nearly three hours later. State CID Chief Senior Asst Comm. (II) Datuk Abdul Samah Mat was said to give the account that the unfortunate poker player's passing was classified as a sudden death. During the raid the police took possession of an unspecified amount of money as well as more than a few card decks.
