According to reports yang had problems with his Visa as a resident of the United States is has been reported that he was turned away at the airport, as he is a US resident with refugee status this required a Visa to travel into Hong Kong.
Since he was a no show at Macau he will miss playing poker at the tournament with some of the other well-known poker players such as Scotty Ngyen, Joe Hachem, John Juanda, and Hevad Khan that are all looking forward to the $2,500 event in the Asian Pacific Poker Tournament.
Since Jerry Yang had his 2007 win he has been relatively unseen making him one of the most mysterious World Series of Poker champions to date as many of the other winners were more public with their championship wins and back at tournament tables soon after.
