Poker Players Alliance (PPA) is reaching out to the broader poker player base. In the effort Executive Director, John Pappas recently posted a very engageing message on the 2+2 forum. The message made clear that Rich Muny was asked to become a member of the PPA Board of Directors, evidently Muny agreed.

"While the Board still must officially approve him at our next meeting, I have asked that he help the organization to build a bridge between the 2+2 community and work with me to develop grassroots initiatives,' said Pappas. 'Rich will bring enthusiasm and expertise as the PPA seeks to communicate with the broader online and offline poker communities."

As one of the largest online poker playing communities in the world 2+2 has a voice with players. In the past some of those in the community voiced disagreement with the PPA as it was seeking to have an exemption from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). In response, Pappas offered this, "The PPA has been criticized on these pages for inactivity and unresponsiveness. I will not comment on the validity of these claims but will give my assurance that there will be an improvement in both areas."

It is believed that Muny will play a significant role in the PPA's efforts in Kentucky, where the Governor's race has become a fight over gambling. The PPA is supporting Democrat candidate and former Lieutenant Governor Steve Beshear, in the November general election, over Republican incumbant Ernie Fletcher. The reason is that Beshear is advocating a State-wide vote on a constitutional amendment that would allow poker. Should something like this become law, it would ultimately change the state Constitution and create another platform to challenge the UIGEA.
