Women in Poker Hall of Fame
This past Friday it was announced that women will soon have their own Poker Hall of Fame. The Ladies International Poker Series, otherwise known as LIPS, Tour will be founding the Women in Poker Hall of Fame this February. It will be located in Las Vegas in Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel. The new Hall of Fame has a Board of Directors. They are: poker players Karina Jett, Maureen Feduniak, Allyn Jaffrey Shulman, Lupe Soto-founder of the LIPS Tour, and Suzanne Carter-director of marketing at Ocean's Eleven Casino in California. There is also a Committee of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame. They had a meeting to decide who would be considered to be the first inductees into the Hall of Fame. They decided on four women and they will be inducted on February 2nd.
There are certain criteria that a woman must meet in order to be inducted into the Hall. These criteria are:
The candidate is an active player or industry leader at some time from a point 15 years prior to election.
The candidate must have contributed to the world of poker in some significant way, either by winning major tournaments or making significant contributions to the industry of poker.
The candidate must be a proponent of women's poker. If she doesn't play in women's tournaments, she must at the minimum support them.
The four women to be inducted this February are: Linda Johnson, Susie Isaacs, Barbara Enright and Marsha Waggoner. The induction will take place at a luncheon at Benny's Bullpen at Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel. Mike Sexton will be serving as the Master of Ceremonies and Jan Fisher will be a guest speaker. A membership can be purchased for the Women in Poker Hall of Fame for $75. This fee gives the member access to the luncheon, a gift and a chance to participate in the invite only freeroll on February 3rd. 20% of the membership fee will be donated to the Breast Cancer Angels Foundation.
