Internet Gambling Has Taken A Life
But that apparently is not the case for all online gamblers. There are the few who have an honest addiction to gambling and the Internet is an easy way for them to get their fix. Although we can argue the number of people who are actually addicted to online gambling, we cannot argue that those who cannot take the excitement in moderation lose a lot of things with their problem. They can lose money, friends, jobs, and their lives.
A life? Yes, a life. This is a rare case however, so rare that there is only one documented case of it.
A 30-year-old Chinese man died after gambling online for three days straight at an Internet café last Saturday afternoon in the city of Guangzhou.
When the paramedics arrived on the scene, they tried to bring him back but it was all too late. The unidentified man was reported dead at the scene from exhaustion.
Along with the name of the gentlemen obviously not being released, neither is the name of what he was playing.
In shock of what had just occurred in front of them, hundreds of web surfers in the café left the building. Maybe they too realized they needed a break.
We all know that gambling should be done in moderation. We all know our personal limits and where we should draw the line, when to end the night. The media has made it clear the dangers of too much gambling, but it wasn't until now that we can add "death" to the long list of concerns.
It is said that you should take breaks ever half hour or so for about 30 minutes. And I would say that this is great advice for anyone that is on the computer for a long length of time. This allows you to get the nourishments your body needs along with protecting your hands from arthritis and your eyes from giving out on you.
This just goes to show you that even something as "safe" as playing any sort of game at your computer...can cause more harm then you may know.
