2008 Reveals Record Breaking Online Poker Traffic
Since late 2006, experts of the online poker industry have stated time and again that online poker will see a significant decline in activity. In 2007, reports concurred with that theory. However, being only the second week into January, here we find a number of today's most respected online poker rooms reporting record numbers in simultaneous, real money player traffic.
Online poker tracking site, PokerScout, reported on January 7th a new peak in online poker real money player traffic. According to its report, the latest numbers have exceeded the previous record of 95,000 simultaneous real money players. Major online poker operators - PokerStars, the Ongame Network, International Poker Network, Everest Poker, Ladbrokes Poker and PKR all set individual records in the first days of 2008.
In late December, PokerStars reached an all time high of 20,000 concurrent players. By early January, the online poker company had broken its own record with more than 23,000 real money players actively betting.
The Ongame Network achieved a record peak of 10,000 simultaneous players on January 7th, 2008. On the same day, Everest Poker also saw a peak in concurrent, real money traffic numbering higher than ever before at 7,600.
In contrast to the rumors, these latest figures have revealed the truth of the matter; online poker is not suffering a steady decline. The industry is on the rise and running stronger than ever before.
