Dusk Till Dawn is the UKs First Legal Poker Club

Dusk Till Dawn received its casino license on Wednesday September 26th making it the first legal poker club in the UK. It will also be the largest poker club in Western Europe. The club has had a hard time becoming a legal business. The club was rejected by three different casino chains because the chains said there wasn't a demand for that type of club. The objection from the Gala, Stanley's, and London Clubs International casinos caused the original case from April 2007 to be stopped until September 24th, 2007.

The Gala and Stanley's continued to dispute the bid for the club even though London Clubs dropped out of the argument. They stated the club could not be run financially and there was no demand. Despite all this, Dusk Till Dawn had two letters of support from the Gambling Commission to support its case and Andrew Woods, the DTD barrister, argued the clubs case. Because of all this the Magistrates decided in favor of Dusk Till Dawn.

"I can safely say that if you had come to us with the intention of obtaining a full gaming license we would have denied it. We would have been finished by lunch. However, as you wish to open a poker-only club, we feel there is demand for the facilities you offer. As such, we will issue you a license with the condition that only poker can be played there and no slot machines will be allowed," stated the chairman of the Betting and Gaming Committee on his verdict.

Rob Yong, managing director of DTD, said, "I am absolutely delighted, as are all of my team, at the news. It's been a lot of hard work these last two years, but we've crossed the final hurdle and we can look ahead to when we open later this year to make DTD the best poker club in Europe."

The club has not set a date for when it will open but it is believed to be opening its doors in November 2007. The club will house 45 poker tables that will seat 405 players which are why it will be the largest poker club in all of Western Europe.
