IGREA Gaining Support
Gaining support slowly but surely, the IGREA, Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act of 2007, has had lawyer, Steve Cohen who is a Tennessee Representative to pledge his support. Cohen is a supporter of the proposed bill to legalize poker made by Florida Representative Robert Wexler. Steve also serves on the U.S. House Of Representatives' Judiciary Subcommittees. The support from Steve Cohen brings the total number to voice their support up to 39.
The proposed bill states that it will ensure that online gambling be fully regulated as well as being licensed and taxed in the United States. This would give Americans the right of choice and have peace of mind in knowing it is closely monitored. This bill was first introduced on April 26th.
Further gaining International support, last week, the recently appointed CEO, from the Vancouver-based Interactive Gaming Council (IGC), John Fitzgerald made his announcement that he will put his interest in seeing to promote International online gaming regulations.
There has also been support from the UK with sponsors including e-Cogra, the European Gaming and Betting Association, as well as GamCare.
IGREA is described as an atidote to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that was passed in the United States last October.
