IMEGA and Ogilvy Working Together To Bring Awareness
The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association feel that online gaming is filled with myths, it is misunderstood and they want to dispel these myths such as online gambling attracts children and problem gamblers.
They have been brought in to the association to help improve the understanding about who gambles online, and they will also aid in promoting the IMEGA group and what they stand for.
One of the goals this group that is top on their list is the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, as they feel it is unconstitutional and are prepared to go to federal court.
IMEGA has other irons in the fire, such as their backing of Barney Frank, the congressman who feels strongly about legislation to regulate and license online gambling operators instead of banning it from the United States. This bill he is working on also includes reversing the ban that now makes it illegal for banks and credit card companies to process payments for out of the country gambling operations.
While they realize that the battle will be fought in court they also know that the people making these laws are elected and the more the public is aware of online gambling and the myths taken away, the new funding this revenue would bring to use for many projects the minds of the law makers will change.
IMEGA also has plans to try to forge an alliance with other groups like that of the Poker Players Alliance. They are planning as one of their projects to be part of an advocate group for Internet privacy rights, along with the battle they have taken on already for online gambling.
