New Support For Bill To Legalize US Online Poker

Congressman Robert Wexler of Florida has been working diligently to gain support for his proposed bill that seeks to legalize online poker in the United States. Wexler's Bill, 'HR 2610 Skill Games Exemption', has received added support this holiday season, as New Jersey State Representative Robert E. Andrews became the 21st co-sponsor of the online poker bill.

HR 2610 seeks to redefine the laws of gambling by creating an exemption for games that require a certain level of skill, rather than luck, to win. Chess, for example, is by no means a game of luck. Congressman Wexler, along with nearly 1 million members of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA), strongly support the belief that poker is not just a game of luck, but requires an extensive level of skill to win consistently.

Representative Robert E. Andrews has vast experience as a US politician, currently serving his tenth Congressional term. Throughout his political career, Andrews has served on committees that include Lifelong Learning and Competitiveness, Higher Education, and his current role as chairman of Education and Labour. Edwards also serves as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, as well as subcommittees on Terrorism and Unconventional Threats, Oversight and Investigations, and the Budget Committee.

Wexler's Skill Game Exemption Bill has been slowly but steadily gaining support, perhaps overshadowed by Congressman Barney Frank's proposed Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act, which seeks to regulate the online gambling industry in the United States through proper licensing and taxation.
