Online Poker Relief From US Presidential Candidate Obama
Democratic candidate, Barack Obama, is an avid poker player hoping to become the 44th president of the United States. Last Thursday, Obama won the Iowa State Caucus, bringing him one step close to that goal, and one step closer to the possible relief of online poker prohibition in the US.
At 46 years of age, Obama is in his first term as an Illinois Senator, and has participated in poker games regularly throughout his Senate membership. Fellow legislators have spoken quite highly of his poker skills, stating it is Obama's smart play and poker face that keep chips flowing in his direction.
Senator Terry Links, who was known to host weekly poker games at his home, knows well the poker styles of Barack Obama. "He didn't stay in hands if he didn't think he had a chance of winning."
The Iowa State Caucus ended last week with expected front-runner, Hillary Rodham Clinton, finishing in 3rd place with 29.5% of the votes. Second place finisher, John Edwards, former Senator of North Carolina, finished with 29.8% of the votes. Barack Obama took the lead, however, with a huge Democratic turnout that awarded him 30% of the votes.
Experts have pointed out the significance of Obama's Iowa victory, as he is vying to become the first black President in the United States. Iowa's population consists of 95% white residents.
Obama advisors have stated that the United States is seeking change, attributed to the Iowa State Caucus drawing twice as many voters as the previous elections.
