Poker Players Alliance Progress Report

According to Alfonso D'Amato, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has managed to do a lot in 6 months and the former Senator outlines as much in a recent letter to its members. The letter centered on the organizations recent growth and the steps forward it has taken regarding Congress and getting online poker legal.

In the letter D'Amato claims, "We have accomplished so much in so little time. Our membership has grown more than 500% since the first of the year to over 600,000 members - thanks in no small part to you telling your fellow poker enthusiasts to join our cause." His target range is one million members and is well on its way to reaching that mark.

There is a lot of momentum in Congress right now with three bills that are being supported. H.R. 2046 (Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act), being spearheaded by Congressman Barney Frank, H.R. 2610 (Skill Games Protection Act) written by Congressman Robert Wexler and H.R. 2410 by Rep. Shelly Berkley. The IGREA seek to legalize, regulate and tax online gambling in the U.S., Wexler's bill seeks to cut out poker from the online gambling act calling it a game of skill and Berkley is calling for a study of Internet Gambling.
