United States Holding Ground on Illegal Online Gambling
Many banks and credit card companies were taking a back seat approach and have not yet even made any attempts to freeze action between themselves and to illegal sites on behalf of the U.S. customer. They have waited to take appropriate measures claiming they were awaiting clearer rules so they could properly determine the procedures that are needed.
And that announcement from the government came yesterday which gave those rules and now all banks, credit card companies, and automated payment systems are to have policies in place that are designed to prevent payments made to illegal gambling sites.
There is a three-month consultation period though, where the Fed and Treasury are allowing comments from all affected parties. These comments must be filed no later then December 12th though.
Soon, there will be clear rules and regulations on what can and can't be done and how banks and other organizations are to handle those who are trying to gamble on these illegal sites. Even though the United States is facing several suits in regards to the trade laws, they do not seem to be backing down. If anything, they are holding their ground even stronger.
