iMega Responds to Massachusetts Governor
After the report in the Boston Globe on Saturday that Governor Deval Patrick has file legislation that would propose a law making gambling online for Massachusetts residents a criminal offense.
It is felt this legislation is unconstitutional and the iMega group has commented on this issue. They feel that with the current case they have pending a ruling against the US Department of Justice over the constitutionality of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act this should be put on hold until a decision is made.
Imega's response to this is legislation or rather proposed legislation is that this piece of legislature is one that Massachusetts should wait before ruling on this until after their verdict is in their court case against the US Department of Justice. The also have made it evident they feel the Massachusetts legislature should remove this provision as it is unconstitutional to impose on the residents of this state.
Imega also stated that this proposed law would be a violation of the citizens of Massachusetts's digital civil rights.
IMega President Edward Leyden of Internet Media Entertainment and Gaming Association stated these comments as this relates to same type of case they are fighting in court against the US Department of Justice.
