Boris Becker Tries Out Poker Career
Former world number one tennis star Boris Becker has begun a poker playing career according to the report in the Sunday German newspaper, Die Welt. The 40 old year old three time Wimbledon winner has signed a contract with an internet poker company.
Boris Becker said, "I have already been playing intensively since last year. What fascinates me about poker is the psychology: what is my opponent thinking of me and what do I think of him," added Becker, who retired from tennis in June 1999".
Becker learned to play poker while he was on the ATP circuit, and at Wimbledon during the rain breaks. Becker is hoping to take part in Europe's Grand Final that will happen later on in April and will host about 800 professional poker players in Monte Carlo.
