Humberto 'The Shark' Brenes

Humberto Brenes, a 55-year-old Costa Rican Businessman, is an avid poker player nicknamed 'The Shark'. At the last check, Brenes was in the bottom quarter of the chip stack for the main event. He is still holding on to the aspiration of his first main event win. Where Humberto is, writers are because he is known to bring action, drama, humor, and forms of entertainment, all worth writing about.

At one point during this year's tournament the number of cameras and photographers at his table puzzled Humberto. Some one pointed out that Spiderman actor, Tobey Maguire, was playing at the table with him. Humberto had no idea he was a movie star. Similarly during the NBC National Poker Heads-Up Championship he had to ask Huck Seed, who Paul Wasika was, the runner up of last year's WSOP Main Event. It does appear that Humberto Brenes, lives in his own world, but it has been successful for him so far.

Humberto is known for his attire and statements there with as well as his antics at the table. It is not uncommon to see him sit down to a table with two pairs of sunglasses, one on top of the other, or sporting a jester's hat. His card protector, a small shark toy, is always on hand to make a run after an opponent's chip stack, when Humberto goes all in, crying out "the chark, the chark!" Humor abounds around Humberto Brenes.

Everything Humberto Brenes does is god natured, and in good humor. On occasion he does invade other's personal space, and has been known to be a bit loud at a table. It may be that he is trying to push his opponents on tilt, or just being himself. Considering many other players obnoxious behavior include things from vulgar language to threatening behavior and tearing down at the method of play from the other players, those who find Brenes occasionally irritating, should really cut him some slack.
