Lisa Tenner - One of Twenty Five People to Watch in 2008

Lisa Tenner is a member of the Queen of Hearts Team and has been recognized by Global Gaming Business Magazine as one of Twenty Five People to Watch in 2008. The Queen of Hearts Team is comprised of women who come together at the WSOP and play. Their goal is to raise money and awareness for the American Heart Association and the Nevada Cancer Institute.

The Team supports the Go Red For Women campaign created by the American Heart Association to help raise women's awareness of the number one killer of women in the United States. They also support the efforts of the Nevada Cancer Institute, which is the official cancer institute for the state.

The Global Gaming Business Magazine article mentioned her work with the Team and how she created the Queen of Hearts poker team that is led by actress Jennifer Tilly. This past year actress Mimi Rogers joined the team and together Rogers and Tenner were the co-captains for the team's visit to the World Series of Poker in 2007. Tenner was also quoted as saying she now asks the professionals on her team to donate at least $5,000 to the charities and a percentage of their winnings as well. "They are all very committed to giving back the community," Tenner says, "and they enthusiastically support this effort."

She also stated in the article that she believes it is only a matter of time before a woman will be the WSOP main event champion. "The Queen of Hearts event has made people realize that women possess the same qualities in everyday life that make great male poker champions," she says. "We have the intelligence, the instincts and the skill, all of which we put to work in our lives, our relationships and in the raising of our children."
