Facebook Adds a New Poker Application
The popular online community, Facebook, has added a new poker application to their website. The new application was created by the Ujogo online poker site. Ujogo is a rewards based poker site. Ujogo funded TNS, a research firm, to do a study on poker. The study showed that in adults, almost 30 million play free poker for generally 3 hours a week. In a year's time 5 billion people hours for just casual gaming.
After the study, Ujogo had stated they wanted to offer players the thrill of playing when you have something to lose. They wanted to achieve this without breaking the law. Since the passing of the UIGEA, Ujogo needed to find a way around the law.
In June the Company first launched a web based game and then last week launched the poker application on Facebook. For members of Facebook, the application is free and players can earn points by inviting people, how long they play, amount of games played and others. Players can also earn more chips on the Texas Hold'em poker application by inviting their friends.
The Texas Hold'em version has been installed 5.4 million times and over 370,000 people play per day. When players run out of chips they can reload. There is also a leader board that begins after starting with 1,000 chips and players can earn extra points for being top-ranked on the leader board.
