Ujogo has announced the launch of it's free rewards-based online poker site for US players. Ujogo has side stepped all legal issues brought about by the UIGEA by creating a completely free-to-play online poker room, "equivalent to participating in a sweepstakes contest from a legal standpoint."

According to the Ujogo web site, membership is free, though account registration is required. In order to stay within the guidelines of US law, personal information is collected. Each players real name, address and social security number are requested to9 deliver prizes and file the appropriate taxes if a player is awarded $600 or more in a single year.

Poker Players are also given the option to pay membership fees, granting access to additional information like poker training tools. Ujogo claims that the payment membership fees has absolutely no bearing on game access and special tournament entries.

The rewards system is primarily based on point accumulation, acquired by winning poker hands, that can be turned in for items at the poker rooms store. This store is currently under construction, but will reportedly offer poker related products and reading materials, which may alternatively be purchased with real money.

The site features Fixed Limit, No Limit and Pot Limit Texas Hold'Em, with each player receiving $1,000 in play-money to start, which can be freely replenished at any time. The only reported problem with this method is that any player can choose to go 'all-in' as often as he likes. There is currently no consequence for this behavior. The web site claims, "If we find that it is becoming a large problem and is significantly affecting the quality of gameplay, we will address this individually, and potentially broadly."
