Late Night Poker Show Returns to Air Tonight
A new series of poker will begin tonight as the Late Night Poker show begins airing on UK television. The new series will begin with a celebrity version that will have such players as John Thompson, Dave Groman, Cleo Rocos and Howard Marks. Later down the road in the series Late Night Poker regulars and new up and coming players will get to showcase their talent. Jen Mason, Tony G, Roy Brindley, Kenna James and Theo Jorgenson will be among the regular players.
The show first aired in 1999 and helped some of the best known players become well known. Phil Hellmuth, Simon Trumper and the Devilfish are just some of the names have moved on to being some of the best players around. The show was a turning point for poker. It was the first show to display hole cards by using a camera underneath the table. It really helps start the new popularity that poker has had.
When the show first aired the commentator was Jesse May. In 2007 May accepted an Innovation Award that was honoring the late Rob Gardner who helped create the show. The award was given to Gardner for his work that influenced the poker industry into what it is today.
The new series will have a top prize of $125,000 and will air on Channel 4 from 11:50 pm. You will see regulars as well as new comers. Players will be able to qualify on various online sites for their chance at TV poker fame.
