World Poker Tour has Downsized TV Schedule
The World Poker Tour Enterprises {WPTE) has reales ed their event and tournament schedule for their seventh season today and this schedule has approximately one third less tournaments then the season before. In season six WPTE broadcasted twenty tournaments that included several specials and all of their open events.
However in the upcoming season WPTE only covers 14 events that are all in the US except for a small trip to Niagara Falls in Canada. The tournaments that were cut from this years lineup are the Mandalay Bay Poker Championship, Ladies Night Invitational, Mirage Poker Showdown, WPT Spanish Championship, Turks and Caicos Poker Classic and the World Poker Challenge.
The World Poker Tour was the only one that was involved in tournament poker series tv and production. But now they have to share time with PokerStars who is the sponsor of the European Poke Tour and the Asia Pacific Tour. And also soon to be in competition on air will be the Latin American Poker Tour.
This and the proliferation of major tournaments across the globe has caused WPTE to cut back their schedule in order to remain competitive and to keep their major tournaments filled with as many platers as possible.
