2008 Irish Poker Championship Invites Poker Newcomer

The 2008 Irish Poker Championship has just invited one of the newest and up and coming faces in poker, former female light welterweight champion, Agniezka “Aga” Rylik from Poland. She was runner-up in Party Poker’s Late Night Poker TV tournament last October. Rylik earned the WIBF International light welterweight from the years 2000 through 2005.

The Irish Poker Championship will be held at the Radisson Hotel and Spa in Galway, Ireland. It will be broadcast worldwide and it will be the first tournament to be debuted on the RTE TV television. The dates of the Championship will be from January 3rd through January 6th, 2008.

Rylik was considered a 100/1 odds outsider according to bookmakers accepting bets on the game. Comments had been made that she played surprisingly well being a beginning player and this was her first major tournament, not to mention that it was televised. Rylik says in regards to playing in the Championship, “I already think I have improved since my first television appearance. The challenges keep getting bigger and bigger but I’m already to do my country proud.”

Currently a television presenter in Poland, Rylik is on hiatus from boxing because of boxing related injuries. Last summer she underwent knee surgery and is planning on making a comeback to the world of boxing in 2008.
