Amatuer Adam Gerber Wins U.S. Poker Championship
In the past such names as Daniel Negreanu, Men "The Master" Nguyen and Alex Jacob have been called champions but this year it all changed as poker amateur Adam Gerber was crowned the 2007 US Poker Champion.
The Philadelphia-resident was the last man standing at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City and he efforts brought him a brand new Rolex watch, a gold bracelet and a $606,095 first-place prize.
Though the final table has been home to Phil Hellmuth, Hoyt Corkins, John D'Agostino and John Juanda, this year was not to be the case. Though lacking potential stars from the tables and not a lot of coverage from ESPN, the 165 entrants put on a great show and there was some very good poker being played at all the tables.
This years US Poker Championship final table results and payouts are:
1. Adam Gerber - $606,095
2. Louis Lee - $318,160
3. Matt Glantz - $159,080
4. Edward Brogdon - $95,448
5. Victor Ramdin - $71,586
6. Jared Okun - $55,678
7. Svetlana Gromenkova - $39,770
8. Tommy Wang - $31,818
