EPT: Dublin Hosts Simon Poker Charity Tournament
Entry for the charity event requires a buy-in of €300 + €30. The first €100 goes directly towards Simon Dublin charity collection, while €200 is deposited into the prize pool. Many donations are being accepted from sponsors, while more are expected to come from a host of European sports and entertainment celebrities scheduled to attend the event.
Last year, when the EPT stopped in Dublin for the Simon Poker Tournament, the charitable event collected an outstanding €50,000. The event's popularity was so immense, it attracted the likes of Dave Colclough, Ken Doherty, Stephen Hendry, Julian Gardner, Scott Gray, Nick Leeson, Jesse May, Kevin O'Connell, Donnacha O'Dea, Matthew Stevens and 'Mad' Marty Wilson.
A spokesman for the group of players organizing the event, Padraig Parkinson said, "The event was a massive success last year and many thanks to John Duthie from the EPT and Charles Harbourne from the Merrion Casino Club for this wonderful gesture. It's a great opportunity for players to sit down, have some craic, and play with some of the biggest names in the game without having to take out a bank loan."
"We're delighted to be associated with the tournament and I look forward to playing in it myself," expressed a jovial John Duthie, head honcho of the EPT, "I just hope I can avoid Parkinson at the tables and in the bar!"
Former World Champ Noel Furlong, winner of last year's Simon Poker Tournament, will be returning to defend his hard-earned title, while the irrepressible 'Mad' Marty Wilson will provide be hosting a historically humorous auction.
