Jason Jones Wins Scottish Amateur Poker Championship
The APAT Poker Association and Tour held their fifth event in the second season of their Tour. The event was the Scottish Amateur Poker Championship that was held in Edinburgh's Gala Maybury Casino. The tournament lasted for two days starting on May 3rd and finishing on May 4th, the event drew in 132 entries.
In order to participate at the event players had to qualify by playing online satellites, playing in APAT's regional championships or by directly buying in to the event. The players were offered a £75 freeze-out with 10,000 in chips to start playing with and a slow clock. The first place winner of the tournament will get £3,000, a trophy and a medal. Plus they will also get from the tour sponsors BlueSquare, an entry package into a GUKPT event worth $3,000 dollars.
The players that made the final table are in order of seating and they were Ian Wheeler with 196,00 in chips, Glenn Laming with 74,000 chips, Simon Aukland also with 76,000 chips, Stephen Coope with 86,000 chips, Robert Ingoldby with 213,000 chips, James Eccles with 172,000 chips, Jason Jones with 87,000 chips, Chris McDonald with 232,000 in chips and Stuart Brown with 199,000 in chips.
Jason Jones ended up winning the tournament by knocking out players all through out the final table. He took out Robert Ingoldby's Kings and sent him home in eighth place. Then he took Eccles in sixth place and as play progressed he was heads up against Glen Laming who finished in second place.
