Paddypowerpoker's "Battle of the Mags"
Paddypowerpoker announced today that the "Battle of the Mags" Grand Final Poker Tournament in London that takes place November 8th, 2007 will be televised by SkyTV on Friday, December 14th, 2007. During the summer, eight of the top poker magazines offered their readers a chance to play a $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Freeroll tournament through PaddyPowerPoker.com to find their best poker player.
The tournament was designed to offer their readers an opportunity to show their skills and win a seat on the televised Grand Final Tournament; each magazine hosted their own online tournament through PaddyPower. The eight winners of those Freerolls will now play for the title of the "Battle of the Mags" Winner as well as the Winner-Takes-All $28,000 prize package which includes a buy-in to the $3 Million Guaranteed 2008 Irish Open as well as two European Poker Tours of their choice.
The following eight winners will be representing the following Magazines: Grzegorz Swieboda from Poland for Antepost; Krzysztof Zajac from Poland for Card Player Europe; Daniel Ernstberger from Germany for Flush; Farcus Radu from Romania for Gambling Online Magazine; Lars Henrik Buschmann Nielsen from Denmark for Gambling Online Magazine; Ronan McLughlin from Ireland for Poker Europa; John Donnelly from Ireland for Poker Pro Europe and; Tina Walker from the UK for Total Poker.
The Communications Manager for Paddy Power was reported as saying, "Each of the online tournaments attracted large fields of high quality players and it would not surprise me at all if the "Battle of the Mags" Champion went on to a huge payday at either the Irish Open or the EPT. It is obvious from the standard of play we have seen that the players have gained a real expertise in the game and learned from the excellent strategic advice they read in their favorite magazines."
