Second WSOP Bracelet Won By Phil Ivey

Jun 15, 2009

Just a few days after winning his first WSOP bracelet of the 2009 WSOP, Phil Ivey won a second one after competing in Event #25. The $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo-8 or Better tournament was won by Ivey after he beat Ming Lee in heads up play.

The final table had several poker pros competing against Ivey for the top prize. Those included were: Steve Wong, Dutch Boyd, Carlos Mortensen and Jon Turner. Ivey began the day as one of the short stacks but he rallied to earn more and would soon find himself facing Ming Lee in heads up play.

Lee was down almost four to one in chips but he would fight to get even with Ivey at one point. Ivey would then take a good stack from Lee and then just a moment later would knock him out of the competition and take his seventh WSOP bracelet.

Ivey is the only player to earn two bracelets so far this year at the WSOP besides Brock Parker. Ivey won Event #8 and #25 while Parker won #14 and #19. It will be interesting to see who else will join them on the list or if the two poker players will be able to earn any more bracelets during the 2009 WSOP.

Final Results:

1 - $220,538 - Phil Ivey
2 - $136,292 - Ming Lee
3 - $89,342 - Carlos Mortensen
4 - $61,919 - Dutch Boyd
5 - $45,237 - Jon Turner
6 - $34,747 - Eric Buchman
7 - $27,993 - Tom Koral
8 - $23,600 - Peter Gelencser
9 - $16,517 - Steve Wong
