WSOP Event No. 16 Winner Andrew Brown
Event No. 16 of the World Series of Poker was a $2,000 buyin Omaha High Low Split tournament that started on June 8th and finished on June 10th. The event drew in 551 players all hoping to be one of the top 54 finishers that would take home part of the $1,022,820 dollar prize pool or better yet a first place finish.
This was the second of three Omaha high Lo Split tournaments on the 2008 World Series of Poker schedule. The last Omaha High Lo Split event will be the $10,000 buyin Omaha High-Low Split World Championship that will start on June 19th. This year's event drew in a slighter larger crowd compared to the 534 entries in last year's event, overall there was a 3 percent increase in entries from 2007.
The winner of the event was Andrew Brown, a 26 year old professional poker player from New York, NY won the event taking home $226,483 dollars for his first place finish. Brown said after he won the tournament, “I think I am a better heads-up player than full-table player". “I was looking forward to playing Ted Forrest heads-up,” Brown said afterward. “He’s amazing. We had a see-saw battle. It was a great heads-up match.”
