WSOP Event No. 22 Winner Jens Voertmann

Event No. 22 of the World Series of Poker was a $3,000 H.O.R.S.E championship event that drew in 414 players creating a total prize pool of $1,142,640 dollars. 

The event started on June 11th and played for three consecutive days finishing up on June 13th.  Last year the buyin was $2,500 dollars but even with the $500 dollar increase the event's turn out still increased by 8 percent with 32 more people entering in.

H.O.R.S.E. tournaments are made up of a rotation of Texas Hold'em, Omaha High-Low, Razz, Seven-Card Stud, and Seven-Card Stud High-Low.  In order to win this event players have to do well in all of the games so this event, so this is a sure test of the players skills.  The rotation plays for eight hands then changes to another game for eight hands and then on to the next and so on.

This event was the first of three H.O.R.S.E. tournaments that are on the 2008 WSOP schedule.  There is still the $50,000 buyin world championship to look forward to on June 25th plus a $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. tournament on June 29th.

The winner is Jens Voertmann, a 38 year old professional poker player from Dortmund, Germany.  He won $298,253 dollars and his first WSOP gold bracelet for his first place finish.  This was his second year at the World Series of Poker and his first final table appearance.
