Event 31 of the World Series of Poker was a $2,500 buyin No Limit Six Handed No Limit Texas Hold'em tournament that started on June 16th and finished up on June 18th.  There were a lot of poker players at this event trying to win but only the top 108 out of the 1,012 players entered would cash at the tournament.

With so many people entered in it created a very large prize pool of $2,327,600 dollars.  The number of entrants in the event increased over last year's 847 entrants for the event for an overall increase in players of 19.4 percent.

Six Handed Hold'em makes players show off their short handed poker skills.  Instead of a full table with nine players each table only had six players or less as players busted out.  This makes competitors play cards out of the standard range of starting hand requirements.  This style of poker also make post flop skills stand out.

The Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em event first debuted at the WSOP in 2005.  There were 3 six handed events on the 2006 schedule but last year there was only one such event on the schedule.  This was the second of three six handed No-Limit Hold'em events on the 2008 WSOP schedule.

The winner of Event No. 31 was Dario Minieri, he is a 23 year old professional poker player from Italy.  He got $528,418 dollars and his first WSOP gold bracelet for the win.  This was his fourth cash at the World Series of Poker but his first 1st place win.  He was also one of the chip leaders at the end of day one in the 2007 WSOP Main Event.

While he didn't make it all the way he did end up finishing in 96th place and did get to cash out at the event.  He is also the second WSOP gold bracelet winner from Italy at this year's World Series of Poker.  The final results for Event No. 31 are below.
