Event No. 40 of the World Series of Poker was a $2,500 buyin Limit Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw Lowball tournament that started on June 22nd and played until June 24th.  There were 238 people in the tournament and they created a prize pool of $547,400 dollars.

Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw Lowball can be very hard to find as it is rarely seen inside public cardsrooms, either as cash games or tournaments.  The World Series of Poker is one of the few places where players can still find this variation of poker.

In the game Deuce-to-Seven Draw Triple Draw Lowball the worst or lowest ranked hand wins the pot.  The best possible 2-7 lowball hand is 2 3 4 5 7 of mixed suits.  An ace counts as a high card and Flushes and Straights count against the player.

Triple Draw made it's debut at the World Series of Poker in 2002 and John Juanda was the first winner.  Men Nguyen won the event in 2003 and then the game took a three year break and returned in 2007 with a $1,000 dollar buy in event.  So this year's event is only the fourth Triple-Draw Lowball event ever played at the WSOP.

The winner of Event No. 40 is John Phan, a professional poker player that is on a roll.  He now has two WSOP career wins and two WSOP gold bracelets that he won from this year's World Series of Poker.  He won Event No. 29, the $3,000 buyin No Limit Texas Hold'em tournament seven days ago and now this.

Phan won $151,911 dollars for his first place finish and after he won he revealed that he plans on donating some of his winnings to charity and specifically to his hometown in Vietnam where he still has family.
