WSOP Event No. 44 Winner Max Greenwood

Event No. 44 of the World Series of Poker was a $1,000 buyin No Limit Texas Hold'em event with rebuys allowed.  The event started on June 25th and finished up on June 27th.  There were a total of 879 people in the event with 2,508 rebuys that created a total prize pool of $3,240,174 dollars.

The top 81 players at the event got a piece of the prize pool which was also the largest prize pool in World Series of Poker history for this event.  The $1,000 buyin with rebuys tournament first appeared at the WSOP in 2004 and since it proved to be successful that two events have been included on the WSOP schedule ever since.

The event's previous winners include such players as; Gerry Drehobl who won 2004, Jiang Chen won and Maciek Gracz won it in 2005, Phil Hellmuth and Allen Cunningham won the events in 2006 and Michael Chu and Michael Graves won the events in 2007.

This year's winner is Max Greenwood, a 23 year old recent college graduate from Toronto, Canada.  He just graduated two weeks ago from the University of Toronto with a degree in Political Science.  He plans on traveling internationally but first had to play at the World Series of Poker and it was a good plan as he now has some spending money to take with him on his travels.

Greenwood has cashed five times at the WSOP all within two years including his $693,444 dollar win for this event.  Since he is considered as an amateur player his win brings the "Pro-Am" gold bracelet scoreboard to 32 wins for professional players, amateur players have 10 wins and semi professional pokey players have 2 wins.
