World Series of Poker Kicks Off Today

It's that time of year again! Time for the annual World Series of Poker events, known all over the world as the most prestigious poker tournament in existence. This years WSOP event kicked off at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas just after 12pm. The season opener was the $10,000.00 pot limit Texas Holdem event.

This years adrenaline rushing, life changing schedule includes seven $10,000.00 poker events, such as the years main event, No Limit, Texas Holdem poker tournament that will make the entire final table instant millionaires. Last years WSOP winner, Jerry Yang took home $8.3 million dollars for his efforts. The second place winner scooped a prize of $4.8 million.

Also available, for those with a touch higher poker bankrolls, that might be looking for a bit of variety in their poker games is the HORSE event. HORSE consists of five poker games, wrapped up into one. beginning with America's newfound favorite, Texas Holding, leading into the more complex Omaha holdem, where each player is given four cards to work with in their hand. Next up is Razz, followed by Seven Card Stud High and then finally Seven Card Stud High Low, Eight or Better.

The H.O.R.S.E event is by far the most expensive game of the season, carrying a $50,000.00 buyin.
