Oklahoma Focusing On Poker
Poker is coming to Oklahoma thanks to the commitment from several casinos to put the focus on poker and locals and people that live in bordering states are cheering. Oklahoma has actually a lot of poker history and they are looking to make more.
Jimmie Sims, Poker Room Manager for Cherokee Casino Tulsa says, “Oklahoma had some of the best poker players before poker became legal in this state. They’ve been playing poker around here for years and years. I think they like the camaraderie and they like the games".
There are currently six poker room and two properties that are making poker one of their featured items. Playing poker in Oklahoma has never been easier and more competitive.
According to Sims, more players in Oklahoma and the bordering state who would have headed to Tunica or Las Vegas to play poker have now discovered that there are home great poker games a lot closer to home.
“I think it’s going to continue to go strong, the more major events that we can hold, I think we can draw a lot of that Tunica market,” he said. “I’m starting to see a slow trend of them working their way to Oklahoma more.”
