Online Poker Players Want to be Heard

Local poker players recently gathered at a Texas Hold'em poker club meeting that was held in Scottsdale, Arizona.  The players were asked to discuss what had angered them the most in regards to the 2006 passing of the UIGEA, a new law that tried to ban online poker in the United States.

The popular opinion was that players were upset over the lack of representation they were receiving in the debate over online poker, and whether or not it should be considered gambling.

There were lobbyists from the horse racing industry and state run lotteries were able to get exemptions for those forms of gambling.  So why couldn't the poker players of the US ban together or get someone to represent them to convince Congress to exempt the game of Poker from the UIGEA.

The poker club's attention is now focused on the Poker Player Alliance, a non profit group based in Washington D.C. that is trying to sway the government to our way of thinking, but they haven't found much success influencing the politicians over the years.
