IMega Gets New Date
In the case of iMega v. Gonzales that is to be held in the U.S. District Court in Trenton, New Jersey and was to be held this coming week on the 4th of September has been delayed until September 26th, this was agreed upon by both parties. This new date for the first hearing changes some of the rules on the playing field for both parties involved, it now seems that the request by the defendants may go unheard, as they planned to ask for this case to be dismissed. In this new hearing iMega has been given permission by the court to present an oral argument during this September 26th hearing, which they had not been granted in the hearing of September 4th.
They will petition for a temporary restraining order against officials implementing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act, along with a petition by the defendants to dismiss the case by the named agencies attorney's. The defendants named in this case are the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the Federal Trade Commission, and the U.S. Justice Department.
Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association filed this case challenging the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act on Constitutional grounds, and will be presided over by Honorable Judge Mary L. Cooper.
