Louisiana makes arrests regarding BETCHA.COM
In July of this year, his computers and equipment were confiscated in a raid on his office, relating to the Washington State law making online gambling a felony. At that time he vowed to fight this, as his site does not complete the payment process, which would be in direct violation of the law. The site adjusted their process there after, no longer offering betting opportunities.
In a Police Press Release on the case, Jenkins, his site administrator Peter Abrahamson, and head technician Josie Imlay were arrested for allowing people to place electronic bets from Louisiana, which is against the law in that state. Extradition is pending. The press release also indicated that these arrests come after a joint effort between the Washington State Gambling Commission and the Louisiana State Police, which conducted an investigation for more than a month. Betting operations were shut down after the July 11th raid on the office, and subsequent legal battle over their legality.
Should extradition be successful, the three face more than 5 years in prison, as well as enormous fines up to 20 thousand dollars. The site as it stands now provides blogs and message boards. This will at this time, allow the company a forum to disclose the details of what is going on. Since their arrests the administrators have updated nothing on the site.
