Fall is on its way and so is more news about the proposed H.R. 2140 or Internet Gambling Study Bill, which was brought to the table by Shelly Berkley a Democrat of Nevada. While this Bill will not do anything to change online gambling right away there are some interesting items that are included in this Bill under Findings and Purpose; it states the fact that millions of American's are gambling on the Internet and this is over half of the multibillion dollar world market; the next interesting item is analysts believe that products or services for sale over the internet can not be stopped. They also feel they must protect the public against minors using online gaming sites and compulsive gambling. Money laundering is also mentioned, along with the question if there are Federal and State gambling laws that are in violation of the Unites States commitment with the World Trade Organization, under the general agreement of Trades and Services.
This last part it is also recognized that while Antigua and Barbuda are the only countries questioning this with recent rulings in their case their could be similar cases with Europe and Australia.
This is a small part of this Bill and while it may not change online gambling for the U.S. it seems they are aware the Government will not be able to stop online gaming.
