Utah Online Poker Players Receiving Mail

Letters are being sent to Utah online poker players from state officials warning them that they could be violating state laws.

Utah is among a handful of states that do not allow any gambling of any form. It does not even have the most popular form, a state lottery.

Early last year charges were levied against four firms and seven individuals. These felony charges dealt with disguising credit card charges and processing those transactions for inline gambling. Recovery is being sought from the defendants for a total of $150 million.

The firms involved are CurrenC Ltd. Out of the British Virgin Islands, Gateway Technologies LLC out of Draper, Utah and Hill Financial Services Inc out of Las Vegas.

Out of the databases of these companies, recovered by state officials came the names and addresses of Utah online poker players.
