William Hill Preparing to transfer to Gibraltar

William Hill Online casino is preparing for a move from the Dutch Antilles in the Caribbean, to the more online gambling friendly Rock of Gibraltar. The move comes as a result of the Government ban where advertising UK gambling websites in operation outside of the Euro Economic "White Listed" territories is concerned.

The rock already hosts several online gambling operations, and affiliate programs, including three industry giants, 888.com, Ladbrokes, and PartyGaming.

At this time, only the Isle of Man and Alderney have been included on the Government's 'Online Gambling White List' though others have applied, and been rejected by the Governments Department for Culture, Media and Sport, including the Dutch Antilles, and Tasmania.

Kahnawake (An Indian reservation located in Quebec, Canada) and Antigua are still be considered as current applicants. The DCMS (Department of Media and Sport) stated that their tough stance on online gambling advertisements has helped to increase regulatory standards, James Purnell, the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport stated further that "The Isle of Man, for example, has made significant improvements to their regulatory regime in order to secure a place on the white list."

The advertising ban will go into effect on the 1st of September and will effect all forms of gambling advertisements, such as television, radio advertisements, newspaper ads, Magazine spots, Taxi signs, Bus Banners, even websites, in fact, the DCMS says that the change will effect about a thousand online gambling websites, including some of the nets most popular gaming locales.
