Andy Black Wins First Major Tournament
It may have been a long time in the making but Andy Black has won his first major poker tournament. This poker playing Irishman who has spent over 20 years trying to capture his first major title has finally done it. He beat final table players; Annie Duke, Roland De Wolfe, Marcel Luske, Tony G and Alexander Kravchenko to win the 2008 PartyPoker.com Premier League Grand Final.
Black has been an elite player on the online poker circuit for years but in the past he had the habit of getting an astounding amount of chips and then losing them all in a short amount of time. In 2005 Andy Black made in to the final table of the WSOP Main Even holding more then one third of chips that were still in play. Despite holding alot of chips he still was out in fifth place.
Andy Black was one of the early chip leaders on day 1 of the 2007 WSOP but didn't make it to day two. Black made it to the final table at Premier Lounge as one of the chip leaders holding $330,000 and some were wondering if he was going to make this time.
But this time around he kept his chips and got that first place finish, Black will receive $250,000 for the win. Players in the tournament bought in for $60,000 and PartyPoker.com added an extra $280,000 to create a $1 million dollars prize pool with $520,000 of the money just for the final table winners.
