Day 4 at the 2008 WPT Championship
It's the fourth day at the 2008 World Poker Tour Championship and only 55 players still remain. The initial plan was to play five levels or down to the final 18 players, but play didn't last for five levels as player busted out steadily.
On the first hand of the day Zvi Shiff started moving things quickly when he went out in 55th place and then players redrew for seats at the final six tables. One of the next players to be eliminated was Mats Rahmn who placed 53rd in the tournament when his AQ was beat by Mark Newhouse's pocket Kings.
Players kept busting out and the next redraw saw only 45 players after Tom Schneider went out in 50th place followed by Tim Phan in 49th, Joe Sebok in 48th and J.C. Tran went out in 46th place. Jayde Tran who went out in 45th place as the first player to leave the final four tables and was joined by the only remaining woman still in the tournament, Isabelle Mercier who went out in 41st place.
Men "The Master" Nguyen caused a stir when he had all of his chips committed to a flop of 10 6 3 with a Q 10 in the hole. Tom McCormcick was holding A 2 and the turn brought him an Ace and McCormick took the lead with his pair of Aces. The river card brought a Q and Nguyen yelled out "Queen, Baby" and he then followed it up with "Suck and re-suck, baby!"
A short whole later the field went on break and things finally slowed down after the players returned. Men Nguyen ended up finishing 26th place and was followed by the youngest player to win a bracelet in WSOP history, Steve Billirakis who went out in 23rd place. The final 17 players will be returning at 12 pm tomorrow and they will be competing for the televised WPT final table of six players.
