EPT Grand Final Update
The two day 1 flights of the European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo are over and now the field has been combined for day 2 and still sitting with those players is Bodog Poker pro Josh Arieh. The tournament drew in 842 players this is 136 more then last years event,
All of those players has brought the prize pool to a very impressive $13.3 million dollars and the first place winner is going to be taking home just under $3.2 million dollars. That amount is more then $300,000 dollars more then last year's winner, Gavin Griffin took home for his first place finish.
The tournament started out with 842 players paying their buy in to get a shot at the awesome first place prize but now only 426 remain to see the next round of play that has already began in the Salles des Etoiles tournament room in the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel.
So far in day 2 there have been several poker pros that have been eliminated, including, Patrik Antonius, Daniel Negreanu, Juha Helppi, Vicky Coren and many more as there are now only 235 players left.
There are still great names of poker that are still in the tournament that include Marcel Luske with 70,000 in chips, Mel Judah with 68,000 chips, Freddy Deeb with 67,000 chips, Barry Greenstein with 56,300 in chips, Sorel Mizzi with 52,550 chips and Arieh with 36,000 in chips.
Play is going to continue through five levels today before the players will bag and tag their chips and head out to party at some of the famous Monte Carlo nightlife or just go off to bed.
There are still three more full days of poker to get through for these players before one of them can be crowned as the 2008 EPT Grand Final Champion.
