WPT Player of the Year
As the sixth season of the World Poker Tour finishes the race for their Player of the Year is heating up. Now that the Foxwoods Poker Classic has been played, the attention is on the $25,000 World Poker Tour Championship that will be at the Bellagio in Las Vegas on April 19th.
There are going to be two titles awarded at the WPT Championship, one will be the Champion of the World Poker Tour and the other is the sought after WPT Player of the Year.
The way to win isn't complicated, it's based on a point system. Players get points based on their final table finishes and then they add up the points and the player with the highest total wins.
Here is how the points are awarded, for a first place finish the player gets 1,000 points, 2nd place earns 700 points, 3rd place gets 600 points and so on. The player with the most points for the Player of the Year with 1,900 points in Jonathan Little. He is from Pensacola, Florida and he dominated the tables earlier in the World Poker Tour.
He took home first place at the Mirage Poker Showdown, second place in the North American Poker Championships and seventh place in the Gulf Coast Poker Championship. Right behind Little is Phil Ivey with 1,400 points and Steve Sung is currently in third place with 1,200 points.
