World Poker Tour Ladies Championship Down to 6
The $1,500 buy in World Poker Tour Ladies Championship started out with 150 players but is now down to just six with Vanessa Selbst as the current chip leader. At the end of the second day Karina Jett was eliminated from the televised final table in seventh place and then play ended for the night.
Selbst finished the first and second days as the tournament's chip leader and she is fresh from a recent women only tournament win at the L.A. Poker Classic preliminary event. Las Vegas ladies Nancy Tyner is currently behind her with the second highest amount of chips and Donna Varlotto is in third position.
The fourth person with the most chips is Tuyet Nguyen, wife of pro player Men Nguyen. Tuyet Nguyen became the first woman to win a non ladies only event after outlasting 445 players at the WPT Celebrity Invitational at the Commerce Casino. The last players at the final table are Janice Kim from Corte Madera, California and short stacked Cindy Kerslake from Calgary, Canada.
The Champion will be crowned on April 25th when the final table will be taped for it's airing on August 18th on GSN at 9pm ET. The first place winner will get almost $67,000 dollars and the title. Fifteen percent of the $1,500 buyin was withheld so a total of $33,750 dollars will be donated to Women for the Cure, the world's largest network of breast cancer survivors and activists.
